What’s new in the field?

In the last few years both the practical knowledge and the physics that regulates this field made a huge leap forward: the concept of étendue and its ramifications started a revolution in reflector design engineering.
Being up-to-date with the state of the art in lighting science, now more than ever, gives a project significant technical advantages over the competitors.

The design method I co-invented

I use the new concepts together with our traditional optics design method, that we invented and have successfully employed for many years, and the newest numerical simulation techniques.
With this method, I can design complete optical systems for lighting, i.e. reflective, refractive and diffusive.

LED luminaires: the method I invented

LED applications requires an original set of skills, as they open up unique ways of designing optical component for fixtures, at the same time presenting difficult and new challenges.
They herald a wide revolution in lighting that will manifest itself in the next few years when SSL (Solid State Lighting) becomes the technology of choice for light sources.
I invented an innovative design procedure that produces absolutely excellent results in any LED application: both updating traditional light fittings and creating new products.
